The Charlotte men began the season with a T-6 finish at the Sea Best Invitational and have improved week after week this Spring, culminating in their dominant win at the Linger Longer Invitational.
At 25 under, the 49ers won by 11 strokes over Georgia Tech (16 over Virginia) at the Great Waters Course in Eatonton, Georgia after a second consecutive day of shooting 11 under as a team.
According to the school, Charlotte is the first team outside a Power 5 conference to win the Linger Longer. Fifth-year senior John Gough claimed the individual title with a birdie on No. 18 by just one shot over Middle Tennessee State’s Connor McKay for his first collegiate win.

“What a great win for these guys and this team,” said 49ers head coach Ryan Cabbage. “They were so solid all three rounds. I could go on and on about how proud I am of these guys and the golf they played over the past three days. We had the second best team round of the day in round one, the best round of the day in Saturday’s second round and then to sleep on a five-shot lead and come out today and shoot the low team score of the day again is just incredible. I am just so excited and so happy for these guys.”
