Women’s college golf player of the week: Linn Grant, Arizona State

The wins keep piling up for Linn Grant. The Arizona State sophomore, currently No. 2 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, won the inaugural Sun Devil Winter Classic in February and the Bruin Wave Invitational in early March to start the spring season after Arizona State – as a member of the Pac-12 – sat out the fall season.

Grant has taken her spring win total to three after winning the Sun Devil’s own Clover Cup over the weekend. She posted thee consecutive rounds of 3-under 69 at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona, to finish at 9 under and one shot ahead of Arizona State teammate Olivia Mehaffey, who made chase with a record 62 in the final round.

Those two performances helped the Sun Devils close out a three-shot victory over Arizona.

Grant also scored some air time at the U.S. Women’s Open in December, where she finished 23rd. Before last spring’s college season was shut down because of COVID, she won the individual title at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational
