With the PGA Tour’s top golfers competing in this week’s WGC-Match Play in Austin, Texas, an alternate field is in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, for the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. Below, we look at the 2021 Corales Puntacana Championship odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.
Corales Golf Course hosts the field of 132 as Hudson Swafford tries to defend his fall title. Lee Hodges is the top golfer in attendance while ranked 54th in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings as of Monday, March 15.
While this week’s winner isn’t guaranteed an invitation with this being an alternate event, the 2021 Masters is just two weeks away. The Valero Texas Open takes place next week at TPC San Antonio.

Will Gordon (+3500)
Gordon missed the cut in his debut at this event in September, but he has made the cut six of eight events to begin 2021, including each of his last four tournaments. His top finish of 2020 was a T-3 showing in a loaded field at the Travelers Championship.
He tied for 36th in a stronger field than this last week at The Honda Classic and has a top finish this year of T-21 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He averaged 1.31 Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee per round last week with a respectable 0.37 SG: Putting per round. He’ll need to lean on those two areas of his game in the Dominican Republic.

2021 Corales Puntacana Championship picks – Contender
Tyler McCumber (+5000)
McCumber is this week’s field leader in strokes gained on the field per round at Corales Golf Course. He tied for 19th in 2018 and finished as the runner-up at minus-17 in September.
He missed the cut in four of his next five events following that runner-up finish, but he comes off a tie for 33rd last week in Florida; it followed a T-22 showing in the elite Players Championship field. Putting has been a weakness on the 2020-21 PGA Tour season, but he’s gaining strokes off-the-tee and from tee-to-green.
The 29-year-old has six professional wins on the Canadian and Latino America tours. Look for him to break through against this weak field at a course where he’s had his best success to date.

2021 Corales Puntacana Championship picks – Long shot
Dominic Bozzelli (+40000)
These weak fields are a good time to target long shots without true favorites on the board. A $10 bet on Bozzelli would return a profit of $4,000 with a tournament victory.
Bozzelli, 29, won this event in 2016 when it was part of the WEB.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) schedule. He tied for 39th in 2019 and for 56th last year as a PGA Tour event.
His current form is a disaster with four missed cuts and a withdrawal through his last three PGA Tour and two KFT events, but he has six career top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour. The site of his only professional win warrants a small wager at these long odds.
