Jordan Spieth is on a hot streak entering this week’s PGA Championship at Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Ocean Course. The former World No. 1 has rebounded nicely from a slump and garnered seven top-10s in his past nine PGA Tour events, including a victory at the Valero Texas Open.
He is clearly a favorite this week, and a victory would cap his career Grand Slam.
So it’s understandable that Spieth might feel like a marked man this week in South Carolina. Under Armour, with whom he has an apparel and shoe contract, made that apparent by putting what might appear to be a giant X on his back in the form of the Under Armour logo for Wednesday’s practice round.
This is no regular logo placement. It’s huge. Maybe the biggest ever seen in golf. Think NASCAR.
Some pros have taken to wearing logos on the back of their shirts that show up nicely in swing follow-through photos, but this is a whole new level. Basically, we see the front of your cap and raise you Spieth’s shirt.
Love it or leave it, you certainly can’t miss it.
But it’s much more subdued from the front, as seen in the photos below.
