Watch: Phil Mickelson swigging wine from the Wanamaker Trophy on his wife’s birthday

Those looking for inspiration certainly found some in the form of Phil Mickelson capturing the 2021 PGA Championship at Kiawah Island. The 50-year-old surprised the field — and the entire golf world — by winning his sixth major title.

“This is just an incredible feeling because I just believed that it was possible but yet everything was saying it wasn’t,” Mickelson said. “I hope that others find that inspiration. It might take a little extra work, a little bit harder effort to maintain physically or maintain the skills, but gosh, is it worth it in the end.”

Of course, Mickelson’s wife Amy has long been a source of inspiration as she fought breast cancer after being diagnosed in 2009.

In 2010, Phil celebrated Amy being declared “cancer-free” by winning Masters in her honor.

And after winning the Wanamaker Trophy, he celebrated in her honor again, this time swigging wine from the cup for her birthday.

Brought the Wanamaker to Amy’s birthday celebration. The wine had an extra ingredient this time – just a dash of VICTORY 😋 Tastes so good! 😊pic.twitter.com/UQZf4jXoYw

Congrats to both Phil and Amy.
