Bidco edge Vihiga United in Thika

Bidco came into the match looking for a win after two games without one. Vihiga on the other hand were looking to find much needed consistency after unburdening themselves last week after getting their first win under new head coach Mike Mururi in a 2-1 victory over Nzoia Sugar in their last clash. They however had to do without the services of Mururi this afternoon as he was red carded against Nzoia. The game got off to a sluggish start both sides slow in moving the ball and in finding their men in spaces that could cause any harm to the opponent.A lethargic opening half hour only saw Bidco United create what was closest to an opportunity in the 18th minute, defender Anthony Simasi forcing Mustapha Oduor to tip the ball over the bar from a free kick situation in the 18th minute. Striker David Orem then found himself through on goal with the ball after a neat cut back cross into the area but his poor touch invited the goalkeeper to collect the ball easily. The game got to the half way interval with the deadlock yet to be tested as both teams lacked that clinical edge and creativity.0️⃣| A Drab first half at Thika#Bkplligiyetu#BKPL pic.twitter.com/u8xPVNQ6cc— Betking Kenya Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) June 25, 2021 But the second half started differently. Nelson Chieta arguably getting the clearest chance of the game just three minutes after second half’s resumption. Fleet footed Alex Juma beat his marker down the left and spotted an unmarked Chieta closing in the back post with an inch perfect cross. The player, without any pressure whatsoever, failed to even find the target as he placed his header wide in a hands in face moment, much to Bidco’s frustration.Just a minute later, Luvanda Lawrence tested the palms of Mukolwe with a stinging free kick from just outside the box but the keeper was able to get to it, punching it out for a corner. As the game’s tempo increased, more and more chances opened up. Substitute Eric Gichimu almost found the opening goal for Bidco with his first touch of the ball but his attempt just rolled narrowly off target. Bidco’s increased pressure in the game would finally pay off in the 76th minute when Stephen Waruru’s inviting free kick deceived everyone including the goalkeeper as it rolled into the back of the net without getting any anticipated touch, Bidco 1-0 up. Bidco then retreated to conservative play as they held onto the ball seemingly satisfied with the scoreline, in the end, their efficiency proving enough to win all three points.
