Upbeat Vihiga United in sticky situation against Bidco United

County funded side Vihiga United will be looking to build on their very first win under new head coach Mike Mururi when they take on league debutants Bidco United at Thika Stadium in a Friday afternoon Football Kenya Federation Premier League match. On a fourth attempt since taking charge, Mururi got his maiden win in a dramatic 2-1 victory over Nzoia Sugar after the millers failed to find the equalizer despite getting two bites of the cherry from a spot kick awarded in the 90+7th minute of the game. With the club having rested in matchday 22, goalkeeper Mustafa Oduor who had saved the first penalty attempt only for him to be adjudged to have moved off his line before the spot kick was taken went on to back his side to get something positive out of the game in a bid to stop themselves from getting entangled in the relegation fight.“Getting that first win was very vital for us. The mood in the camp has been fantastic all week since we also had a ten day break after that win to prepare. We know it is going to be a tough match because Bidco have already showed what they capable of but we just have to ensure that we give our best performance in the game and ensure we get maximum points because we are not in such a good position on the table,” he told Mozzart Sport.Nzoia Sugar FC Captain Peter Gin says his side paid the price of failing to take their chances as they fell 1-2 to Vihiga United in an FKF Premier League match at the Sudi Stadium.Gin attributed the defeat to ‘hard luck’, maintaining they gave a good account of themselves.— Geoffrey Mwamburi (@bekimwamburi) June 16, 2021 Anthony Akhulia’s Bidco will however be hoping his boys can complete a historic league double over the county side after they emerged 1-0 winners in the first leg fixture courtesy of a Nelson Chieta solitary strike. Leading the line for Bidco will be striker Erick Gichimu who recently got back to full fitness after injury. The striker is hoping the game will see him end his goal drought since February.“We have trained well building up to the match. All the boys are psyched up and all ready for the game. Personally for me, after overcoming the injury I feel ready to play full minutes in the game and my eyes are solely focused on getting on the scoresheet so as to help the team to win. It has been a long time since I last scored and I hope I’ll break that barren run in the game,” he said.Tomorrow we are up against @VihigaUnitedFC🏟️ Thika Municipal Stadium🕛 3:00 pm thika time pic.twitter.com/xK1Yw6pJyy— Bidco United (@BidcoUnited) June 24, 2021 The match kicks off at 1500EAT.
