KCB striker, Derrick Otanga has exuded confidence in breaking the targets set at the start of the 2020/2021 Football Kenya Federation Premier League campaign.Signed on a one-year contract back in October 2020 after being released by Wazito, the forward fixed his targets on getting to double digits in his first season with the Bankers. The forward, who now finds himself leading the scoring charts at KCB with seven goals, is now optimistic that his recent impressive form in front of goal will see him get to, if not surpass, the 10 goal mark he had in his sights.“My target at the start of the season was ten goals. Right now I have seven (since one against Zoo was scrapped) and with more than ten games still to play, I see myself even surpassing that initial target,” he told Mozzart Sport.⚽️| @FcHomeboyz 🆚️ @KCBFootball⏰| 1500EAT🏟| ASK Grounds, Nakuru#kakamegahomeboyz #kcb #BKPL pic.twitter.com/tnlY4OhRkZ— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) June 26, 2021 The former Wazito man started the season strongly, netting in his debut game before adding two more goals in the next four games. That impressive season-opening form however hit a dry patch as he went on a nine-match goal drought before rediscovering the purple patch once again after football’s suspension.Since football’s resumption back in May, the striker has scored four goals in his last five matches and the striker is hoping his goal-scoring exploits can help the team secure a historic title to their name under the guidance of head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno.“There is no room for slacking right now. We just have to win each and every game considering the position we are in. The coach has instilled a mentality in us that we can become champions. That really helps to approach every game with a winning mindset,” he added. The top scorer will be looking to edge even further closer to his targets when they take on Kakamega Homeboyz in the first of the remaining 12 fixtures.
