Another attack on Shaw: Former Manchester United boss living in a world of bitterness

There were a few problems between Jose Mourinho and Luke Shaw during the Portuguese’s two-and-a-half-year reign at Old Trafford. Misunderstandings weren’t rectified, and they turned into a feud. These things happen when a player and a coach don’t see eye to eye, but they are fixed when someone moves on to another club. But sometimes they don’t go away but instead, turn into obsession – especially when one of those men is Mourinho. There must have been something deeper in the relationship between Jose and Luke because Mourinho simply won’t let go. A few days ago, the England defender played well against the Czech Republic in the Euro 2020. Yet, Mourinho rounded on his former player after the game with another attack by saying that England’s set pieces were “dramatically bad” and Shaw’s delivery was poor.Luke Shaw believes it is time for Jose Mourinho to “move on” 😅 pic.twitter.com/ZZvdS7uOWc— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) June 28, 2021 After years of silence, Shaw couldn’t keep quiet any longer.I don’t really understand it, to be honest. I don’t know why he is still going on and wanting to point at me. I don’t feel like the set pieces were as bad as he was saying. I might have done one in the second half, a corner that didn’t get over the first man. But that was one out of three. The other two or three, I don’t think, were as dramatically bad as he says. Look, he has got to do his job. He has got his opinion. The former Southampton left-back is bemused by the attention he seems to be getting from his former boss- especially considering that he wasn’t getting any recognition when he needed to be guided and encouraged by his boss.”I am used to him saying negative stuff about me now, so I just pass it by. I leave it be, I ignore it. I just focus on what England boss Gareth Southgate says and that’s that. Mourinho needs to move on. Hopefully, he can find his peace with that and finally move and stop worrying about me. Clearly, I am in his head a lot, and he clearly thinks about me a lot.”Reporter: What does Luke Shaw need to do to get back on the bench?Mourinho: Who?Reporter: Luke Shaw?Mourinho: I cannot compare… he’s a long way behind.Throwback to 2017 and the first instalment of the brewing feud between Jose Mourinho and Luke Shaw 👀 pic.twitter.com/1VvuVayvck— Hayters TV (@HaytersTV) June 28, 2021 Shaw has had to overcome a nasty double leg fracture during his time at United, the repercussions of which carried into the start of his spell working with Mourinho, who felt the injury had had a lasting impact. However, under Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer, Shaw has returned to fitness, regained confidence and was voted Manchester United’s Player of the Season. Not bad at all for a player that was discarded by the new AS Roma head coach. The former Chelsea, Spurs, Inter and Real Madrid boss has a strong ego, and he always has to have the final say. So, we can expect another round in the seemingly never-ending dispute between the Englishman and the Portuguese.
