Migori Youth have been awarded maximum points for the abandoned match pitting them against FC Talanta on a two goals, three points basis. The match was abandoned with 15 minutes to play in the second half when the referee decided to award Migori Youth a penalty with both teams level after goals from Ducan Onyango and Richard Bwire for Migori Youth and TC Talanta respectively. The FKF secretariat has moved swiftly to award the match to Migori Youth, and the same communicated to the two clubs.”Following the abandonment of Match No. 217 between Migori Youth FC and FC Talanta, the FKF Secretariat, guided by the Rules and Regulations Governing Kenyan Football, have awarded the match to Migori Youth FC on a 2-0, 3 points basis,” read part of the communique. The match between Migori Youth and Talanta has been called off, according to what I’ve heard. Why, when Talanta was awarded a penalty that resulted in an equalizer, coach Kenyatta didn’t complain, but when Migori was handed one, he led his players &TB off the field of play? pic.twitter.com/4tpOR1wEju— Sally Bolo (@SallyBolo) June 12, 2021 The laws of the game stipulate that a match forfeited by a club will be awarded to their opponent. All goals scored by the opponent are valid and will be counted. Any goals scored by the offending club will be canceled. If the opponent had only one or no goals, the match will be awarded to them on a 2-0 basis. Any yellow or red cards awarded during the match are valid. In this case, the game was locked at 1-1, therefore Migori have been awarded two goals and the one scored by FC Talanta invalidated.FC Talanta head coach Ken Kenyatta earlier laid blame on the match officials after his players walked out of the match, castigating the call to award the penalty while noting that it initially should have been an offside call.@FKF_NSL must give Migori Youth Fc 3 points against Talanta. Second time Coach Kenyatta & his bench are storming in the pitch and making his players abandon the match (against Gusii FC – former Sony Sugar). (@jeffonyambu) June 14, 2021 Kenyatta went ahead to say that he tried to urge his players to continue with the match but they were unwilling, and they made the decision to forfeit the match. His counterpart, Wilson Aol, slammed the decision by Talanta’s technical bench to walk out of the match saying that it was uncouth of them. The move sees Talanta drop to third with 41 points albeit playing two games less than the league leaders Kenya Police while Migori Youth are 14th on the log with 28 points from 23 games.
