Thirty-year-old former soldier Nathan Richardson completed a remarkable feat as he ran to all 92 football grounds from the top four tiers of English football. The journey lasted more than a year as this football fan racked up more than 4,000 kilometres. During all this time, Nathan has run every single day, covering four to six kilometres per day – rain or shine. An absolutely EPIC CHALLENGE completed!!! He attracted donations from people around the country to help the children.Richardson has raised more than a billion shillings for mental health charity Mind and The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity. His goal is to raise money and to spread the word that physical exercise can improve mental health. It was something Nathan experienced first-hand.”After losing two close family members, I was feeling down, depressed and unhappy with my weight. After a few organised runs, I decided to create my own challenge – to run around the football grounds. I found running was a great escape and a positive activity that helped my body and my mental health. This combines two of my favourite things – running and football.”🏃♂️💭Yesterday Nathan Richardson arrived at The Den as part of his goal to run to 92 football grounds. Big well done to Nathan 👍🏆 pic.twitter.com/uc6N6uUz2Q— Millwall Community (@Millwall_MCT) September 10, 2020 The Manchester-born supporter of English third-tier club Rochdale AFC set off on his journey in March 2020 from Old Trafford but was repeatedly delayed on his journey because of strict Covid restrictions.”I got the idea after speaking to a Burnley fan who was running to all his away games. I have always wanted to visit every football stadium in the English football league, but I could not help but wonder if anyone had ever run to them all before. So, I thought I’d run to all the stadiums. As far as I could see, no one ever had. It was amazing, and I’m thrilled to have done it. I also got to lift the real FA Cup at Arsenal. Not many people can say that!”It wasn’t easy running through both snow and thirty-degree heat during the past year. Nathan often camped out or stayed at cheap motels, carrying all his gear with him. But it was all worth it in the end as this brave man received satisfaction and congratulations from people around England. Here’s @nathrich92 completing his ‘run around the 92’ at the @CrownOil Arena this afternoon 👏Look out for an interview with Nathan to be played on Sky Sports News throughout the day 📺 Congratulations on your achievement, Nathan! 🙌#RAFC pic.twitter.com/rpiM0OfAjN— Rochdale AFC (@officiallydale) June 26, 2021 This generous guy ended his fantastic trek at Spotland Stadium, the home of his beloved Rochdale.
