Nzoia Sugar’s tactician Ibrahim Shikanda is rooting for his players in the provisional Emerging Stars squad to make the final cut for the CECAFA U23 Championship that is set to take place in Ethiopia next month. The trio of defender Moses Mwale and midfielders Dennis Musamali and Elisha Wekesa are in Emerging Stars provisional squad that is in camp preparing for the tournament that is set to kick off on 17th July in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Shikanda said that the three are capable of delivering even at the national level, adding that they are young and raring to go.”Even if I miss them in a couple of games when they make the final squad, I will take it in a very positive way. I believe in them – they are capable of doing a good job. They are young and very energetic. Two of them are still 19 years old while the other is 20. I believe the coach (Stanley Okumbi) will give them a chance and he will appreciate the good job they will do,” Shikanda said.Congratulations Elisha Wekesa, Dan Musamali and Moses Mwale for receiving a call to join the under 23 National team for the upcoming international matches. He is a good coach who understands and wants to work with young coaches and players. I will appreciate if he gives those young boys a chance,” he added.Though Nzoia have been struggling this season, they have had some superb individual performances with some of their players being standouts in the league. Kevin Simiyu, for instance, was in the squad for the AFCON qualifier against Togo and came on in the 72 minute replacing Clifton Miheso.72″Substitution🔻 Cliffton Miheso🟢 Kevin SimiyuTogo 🇹🇬 0- 2 🇰🇪 #HarambeeStars#Tunaweza #AFCON2021Q— Harambee Stars (@Harambee__Stars) March 29, 2021 The tourney that was slated to kick off on Saturday, July 3 at Bahir Dar, Ethiopia has been postponed to Saturday, July 17.
