Patrick Vieira is set to become manager of Crystal Palace. The news was broken by The Athletic on Tuesday as the Eagles finally set to secure Roy Hodgson’s successor. The former OGC Nice and New York City boss will return to London as manager.Vieira had not had a managerial post since December last year. That was when he left French club Nice. However, he claims that he learned a lot from that experience and that his old Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was the one to give him valuable advice after he’d lost his job.”We make mistakes, and I will make some again. That is part of the construction of a manager. At Nice, I’ve done some things that I will not do again. Then, of course, I spoke with Arsene on the phone. In his two full seasons in charge of Nice, Vieira took the club to seventh and sixth in Ligue 1. However, in his third season, Nice didn’t do well under Vieira, and the Dakar-born former France international paid the price.The former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder attracted interest from Bournemouth when they were looking for a new manager after the departure of Jason Tindall earlier in 2021. They eventually hired Scott Parker as their permanent manager instead.Arsenal legend is not impressed by Italy at the EURO 2020 so farVieira will be given a chance to lead the Eagles after the departure of the celebrated English manager Hodgson at the end of the 2020/21 season.
