Experienced Bidco United forward Stephen Waruru has reiterated his team’s ambition to build in every game they play in their first season of top flight football in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).Bidco got promoted to the top tier for the first time in their history as runners up to Nairobi City Stars after the novel Covid-19 pandemic that brought the world to a standstill forced a premature end to the National Super League (NSL) thus earning Bidco promotion that ended an almost 20 year stay in the country’s second tier.Being newbies, Waruru who has so far chipped into Bidco’s tally with three goals – the last being a match winner against Vihiga County in their last match – has stated that the team’s focus is on taking game by game with a lot of emphasis on learning and correcting the mistakes they make with the help of head coach Anthony Akhulia who helped the team gain promotion.“Each and every game we play here we are learning. The games have not been easy because everyone is fighting. But any time we make a mistake, the coach is really helping us to rectify them. Our focus is just on taking a game at a time and converting our chances whenever they present themselves,” he told Mozzart Sport. For a first time in the season, Bidco have certainly punched above their weight. Currently they sit in eleventh position on the log on 26 points and they reached the semifinals of the Football Kenya Federation Cup where they were only ousted on post-match penalties by Gor Mahia. With twelve matches left before the 2020/2021 campaign wraps up, Bidco will be hoping to maintain, if not increase, their eleven point gap from the safety places in order to maintain their top flight status.
