While playing for Bournemouth in the Premier League, the trio of Joshua King, Callum Wilson and Ryan Frayser were one of the best attacking trio’s in the country. And while Willson and Frayser decided to go to Newcastle straight after Bournemouth’ relegation, King stayed a bit more and among various offers decided to sign for Everton in January. A decision which proved to be a mistake, mainly due to Carlo Ancelotti. Taxes are like a faithful spouse – they will wait for you to come backFormer Everton boss, who became Real Madrid manager in the meantime, was one of the reasons that Norwegian striker choose Everton instead of other Premier League teams, but it didn’t work out at the end. „I don’t regret that I went to Everton. I did not get the chance, not a single start. Had I got a start and not performed, I would have understood it. I had another offer that gave much more security, but was told that I would get to play and that I would get the chance at Everton. But it was not delivered, so then I feel that was not the intention, just. Do not trust coaches who promise you things and say you will get the chance, that you will start. Then I went and talked to Ancelotti, but what we talked about in that room, stays in that room. He lied to me. But again, there are not many honest people who work in football. Except for the players, then. I had no relationship with Ancelotti“ King said to Dagbladet. It seems Joshua King wasn’t fond of Carlo Ancelotti during his time at Everton 😧 pic.twitter.com/vrLTqXeUcW— Soccer AM (@SoccerAM) July 2, 2021 During his six months spell, King played only 137 minutes divided into eleven games. During the last 18 games of the season, he was in the squad 16, was substituted eleven and was unused reserve on five occasions.”We were also looking at him in the summer. He has Premier League experience and we are happy to have him in the squad. We signed him to use his quality. He is a powerful player, a fast player, so it was for this reason, not for scoring more goals. We signed him to have more options in front“ said Ancelotti at the press conference after the signing. Luckily for King, he signed only a six-months contract, with an option for one more year. It’s safe to say he’s not going to use that option, and will be looking for a new club this July.
