A month after he was involved in a grisly road accident along the Nakuru-Kapsabet highway, Harambee Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi has resumed training, raising hopes that he could soon be back playing football. The Ethiopia-based keeper and his family were involved in the gruesome accident that left his son and wife requiring surgery. They were both operated on and have since been discharged. Matasi on the other hand suffered minor injuries which he has shaken off. There are now hopes that he will be back on the pitch soon as the St. George FC keeper is now back in training. On Friday evening, Matasi posted pictures of him hitting the gym on social media“Resumed exercises today. God is great folded hands,” read the caption on the pictures.Matasi may however start hunting for a new club as his contract with the Ethiopian Saints is set to expire in two month’s time and having lost his place between the posts to, Lealem Birhanu it is highly unlikely that the Ethiopian giants will be willing to renew his deal.Resumed exercises today. He went on to establish himself as a key player for the Saints until just the concluded season where Birhanu pipped him to become the first choice. Earlier in the year, Simba SC were rumoured to be interested in him after it emerged that Aishi Manula had attracted interest from North Africa, the rumours have since cooled down. The former West Kenya Sugar, AFC Leopards, Posta Rangers, and Tusker FC keeper was Kenya’s first-choice keeper at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egpyt and played in all three matches before Kenya were bundled out at the group stage. He has however been overlooked in recent assignments with coach Ghost Mulee preferring Arnold Origi, Ian Otieno, James Saruni, Brian Bwire, and Joseph Okoth.
