Reprieve for City Stars’ bad boy Babu

Nairobi City Stars midfielder Timothy ‘Babu’ Ouma has resumed training with the team after serving a club-imposed suspension but may have to wait longer for his first competitive appearance since March.Babu was banished from the team after he sneaked to Nigeria for trials in May. The midfielder alongside AFC Leopards’ pair of Marvin Nabwire and Jaffari Owiti went to West Africa for trials with an unspecified side before they silently sneaked back into the country after failing to impress. Nabwire and Owiti have already featured for Ingwe after their suspensions from the team.Babu on the other hand had to serve a longer suspension away from the team and is now back in training with the rest of the squad. Coach Sanjin Alagic says they had to take action as he broke the club’s code of ethics that he is well aware of.“He was suspended because he left the team and went outside the country for trials without the club’s permission. The club has rules that all the players know and have to follow and when you break these rules there are consequences,” he told Mozzart Sport.Stars still believe in giving youngsters an opportunity to show their class. Stars have recently penned a deal with Timothy Ouma from Laiser Hill academy and Rowland Babu Makati from @Vaporfc to spice up their squad for a competitive come back. pic.twitter.com/me7whXNjbI— Soccerpower99 (@soccerpower99) September 1, 2020 Alagic says the youngster has to learn from his mistake so that he does not pull a similar stunt in the future.“He is a young boy, I am the one that gave him his first professional football opportunity. He first has to realize that he made a huge mistake and after that, we can work on guiding him so that such mistakes do not happen in the future,” he added. On when he will be back playing for the team again soon, the Bosnian tactician said they will decide when to involve him again and wants the player to earn in at the training ground.“He has resumed training and we will see if he plays again this season, it is a decision that I will have to make together with my technical team. It is upon him to show that determination and the hunger, lets see what happens in the next few weeks,” he concluded.City Stars will play Bandari FC on Sunday afternoon in Mombasa.
