Bidco United sealed a third place finish in FKF Cup after beating Division One side, Equity FC 1-0 in the match staged at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.Reserve defender Kasim Mwinyi scored the lone goal of the game in the 32nd minute heading home from a Wilson Anekeya corner kick delivery. Bidco coach Anthony Akhulia was however far from impressed with the team’s overall performance.”We are still a work in progress, we didn’t play well today but somehow we won which is the important thing . There’s still room for improvement but a third place finish in the cup is a good thing and we can build on that. We made many changes in the team, I wanted to give other players a chance and some impressed but some have work harder because they are still lagging behind,” he said.His Equity counterpart John Baraza opined that Bidco used their experience to win the game.”There are a lot of positives to pick from the game because we played well but they (Bidco) made use of their experience to win. They didn’t get many chances, because they scored from a set-piece and won and that’s probably more to do with experience because I believe we had the best chances but we didn’t utilize them, “he said.United coach Akhulia made wholesome changes from his starting XI, only Peter Nzuki was retained from the team that started against Kakamega Homeboyz in midweek and it was the midfielder who had the team’s first three chances, all from set pieces. His first free-kick went over the bar in the eighth minute and four minutes later he was denied by Timothy Ngugi. The keeper again pulled a huge save to deny Nzuki from another free-kick in the 30th minute.A minute later, Bidco went ahead through Kassim Mwinyi. The defender rode high to head home a Nzuki corner kick delivery. Bidco took a narrow lead to the break.The Bankers showed some improvement after the interval as they looked get the leveller. They created a couple of chances in the opening stages of the second stanza but they failed to utilize them.Stephen Waruru almost made it 2-0 late on but his free-kick went narrowly over the bar. While David Gateri missed a free header. In the end Mwinyi’s goal settled the match.Bidco walk home with Ksh. 750,000 while Equity get Ksh. 500,000.
