It’s master against apprentice as Wazito host Posta Rangers

After ending Nairobi City Stars’ fine league run, Wazito FC will host Posta Rangers in a league match at the Thika Sub-County Stadium. It is a Francis Kimanzi vs Stanley Okumbi affair, mentor vs mentee.Musa Masika’s first goal of the season ended City Stars’ run of five consecutive league wins on Wednesday afternoon. Posta on the other hand were not involved in midweek, their last assignment was a week ago against Mathare United, a match they dispatched the Slum Boys 2-1 at the Ruaraka Grounds. The Francis Kimanzi-led team will be keen on getting two consecutive wins for the first time since January. After winning five on the spin at the start of the year, the team has struggled to string two consecutive wins and the match against Stanley Okumbi’s side gives them an opportunity to get some consistency.Posta is equally inconsistent with draws slowly looking like their default result. They have recently managed wins over leaders Tusker FC and Mathare United and Wazito cannot afford to underrate Okumbi’s side. They have specifically been tight at the back with captain Suleiman Ngotho and Kevin Ouma denying opponents with their solidity.Wazito is currently eighth in the FKF Premier League log with 30 points and a win could lift them up to sixth. Posta on the other hand are 13th with 25 points and they could move up to ninth on the league table. We will take on Posta Rangers later this afternoon in Thika#Wazito4life pic.twitter.com/iDWPaIaNjn— WAZITO FOOTBALL CLUB (@wazitofc) July 4, 2021 Posta has never lost to Wazito FC in a league match. The five meetings between the two sides have ended in two wins for the Mailmen with the other three games ending in barren draws, it is a run Wazito will be keen on ending.Wazito coach Francis Kimanzi understands the importance of getting maximum points from the match.“It is another important match for us and we have prepared well for it, we will try to get a positive result, we play to win games. When you play on Wednesday and over the weekend it tends to take a toll on the players and we try to manage that by rotating the squad, and I hope we have a fresher team for the weekend match,” he said.
