Gor Mahia lifted the title after downing AFC Leopards via post-match penalties in the final played on Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium.Gor have the ticket to represent the country in next season’s continental tournament, but there’s a hurdle, a recent circular from CAF indicated that clubs will active cases over failure to pay their former players and coaches will not be cleared to feature in the competition.FT.FKF cup 3rd place playoffsEquity 0-1 Bidco unitedCongratulations Bidco#FKFCup pic.twitter.com/bbetdPRYxn— Carol Radull (@CarolRadull) July 4, 2021 Gor Mahia currently have two active cases at the world football governing body. They were dragged to FIFA by their former player Dickson Ambundo over nonpayment of his salary during his time at the club, the player was awarded Ksh.1.2 million which Gor is yet to settle. The second case is that of Ugandan left-back, Shafik Batambuze who equally moved to FIFA demanding millions in compensation, FIFA has since slapped Gor with a transfer embargo.Runners up AFC Leopards are in a similar situation. Their former coach Andre Cassa Mbungo dragged them to FIFA and so did former midfielder Vincent Habamahoro both are demanding millions in compensation and with Leopards currently in financial turmoil, they are yet to pay the pair and serving a transfer ban as well. It’s the reason we play in the FKF Cup competition in the first place. Right now we are not thinking about it because we finished third in the cup but should a decision be made and we are given that opportunity then we will definitely try to represent the country well,” he told Mozzart Sport.Bidco piped Equity 1-0 in the playoff despite fielding his second-string side and he says that it was important that the fringe players get some playtime. “It was important that they got some playtime because most haven’t played for a while, they needed to show me if they deserve to play for the first team. We didn’t play too well and there are things that we will have to work on in training,” he added. To everyone who made this a success, we say Asante Sana 🙏Special thanks to our Management at @BidcoGroup and fans who have always stood with us.We hope to make it even bigger next season. Our focus now shifts back to the BetKing Premier League #Ready4Whatever pic.twitter.com/wz3citWtDb— Bidco United (@BidcoUnited) July 4, 2021 Bidco will be back in FKFPL action on Thursday against Nzoia Sugar FC in Nakuru.
