Gor rookie targets more trophies after Cup glory

After laying hands on his first major title, Gor Mahia prodigy Frank Odhiambo is thirsting to help the club retain the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL) crown.Odhiambo was part of the squad which claimed the Football Kenya Federation Cup last weekend beating arch rivals AFC Leopards 4-1 on post match penalties after a barren draw in regular time. The fast rising central defender joined the record champions at the start of the season from Bongonaya FC but took almost half a season to have his debut in the green robes. He was handed his maiden start for the club in April during their 1-0 win over Nairobi City Stars and has since established himself as Harun Shakava’s partner at the heart of the defence.🟢 | Good morning to all from defender Frank Odhiambo – @ariepa_jnr#Sirkal | #Sirkal pic.twitter.com/Ix6n3drbQ5— 🏆 – GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) June 18, 2021 Coach Carlos Vaz Pinto trusted the youngster from the time sporting activities resumed in April after almost a two-month break ahead of the experienced trio of Charles Momanyi, Joachim Oluoch and Andrew Juma.Odhiambo says the players have their eyes fixed on stretching their record to twenty league titles at the end of the season.”There is no time to rest or celebrate the Cup victory. We have to keep on working hard for we still have a chance of retaining the league. There are more than ten rounds remaining which are enough to catch up and eclipse the top teams,”he said.Gor who had a sluggish start of life in the season are placed fourth with 39 points, eight adrift of leaders Tusker.Fast-rising Gor Mahia centerback Frank Odhiambo lauds captain Shakava for being the guiding light for him so far in the teamhttps://t.co/ujuGaxrZlU— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) June 11, 2021 Besides muscling for the league gong, Odhiambo revealed that he is braced up to help the national U23 team claim the CECAFA tournament set for Ethiopia. The player who was part of the U20 team which reached to the semi finals of the regional tournament last year in Arusha was among the late inclusions in the provisional team that is currently preparing for the championship which is almost two weeks away.”I also want to help the Emerging Stars team win the CECAFA trophy.
