Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Shami Kibwana has warned his side against underrating Mathare United ahead of Saturday’ league match between the two sides at ASK, Nakuru Grounds.Mathare are currently at the bottom of the FKF Premier League (FKF-PL) log with 14 points and are fighting to avoid relegation for the first time ever. In recent weeks they picked wins against AFC Leopards and Vihiga United to boost their survival chances.Ahead of the match on Saturday, Kibwana says they have to be wary of the Slum Boys as they can easily cause an upset in their quest to survive.“The game against Mathare will be a very tricky one because we are facing a team that’s playing for survival and they will definitely try to frustrate us in order to get points from the match. Underdogs often cause upsets at this stage of the season and we have to be very cautious, we cannot afford to underrate them. They recently won against AFC Leopards and Vihiga United and that means they are still a good team,” he told Mozzart Sport.🟡 | Kakamega Homeboyz with the second goal Allan Wanga taps an easy one home after a good cross from Kibwana ShamiKakamega Homeboyz 2 Ulinzi Stars FC 0#HomeboysVsUlinzi#BKPL pic.twitter.com/aaB04MFxuW— Betking Kenya Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) July 4, 2021 Homeboyz started the season poorly and are currently eighth in the FKF PL log, and for Shami, a strong finish to the current campaign will enable them to hit their targets. He urges his teammates to work towards getting maximum points from the remaining league assignments.“We started the season poorly and that means we lag behind in terms of the goals that we set before the season started. We have nine games left before the season ends and we will have to get as many points as possible. If we can win all the remaining matches, the better. 🟡 | 56′ ⚽️ Goal Kakamega HomeboyzKibwana Shami puts the hosts ahead He beats Saruni from outside the areaKakamega Homeboyz 1 Ulinzi Stars FC 0#HomeboysVsUlinzi#BKPL pic.twitter.com/ZIpf3vjdJy— Betking Kenya Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) July 4, 2021 Shami recently returned from a niggling shoulder injury and last week he scored a brace and set up Allan Wanga for the other goal as his side whipped Ulinzi Stars 3-1 in Nakuru and the midfielder wants to contribute towards the success of the team by finding the back of the net more often.
