Breaking: Kenyan international released by Zambian giants

Makwata joined Zesco in February 2020 after an exceptional half a season with AFC Leopards where he scored 13 goals and was the lead scorer in the league before he dumped Ingwe for a return to Zambia, this time with nine-time league champions. He leaves Zesco with one league title to his name.“Kenyan international and ZESCO United striker, John Makwata has left the club. The Zambian Super League-winning striker, joined ZESCO United last year having penned a 3-year deal with the Ndola-based league giants. Makwata joined ZESCO United last year adding to a list of Kenyan footballers who have been part of the club’s success in recent years,” read a statement from the club.United CEO, Richard Kabwe Mulenga has thanked Makwata for his contribution towards winning the title in the just-concluded season.“We have reached an agreement with Makwata to separate mutually. In 2017 he resigned from the military and joined the Zambian side, Buildcon, and a year later he left for Oman Al Nasr. He returned to the country and joined AFC Leopards.
