Cameroon legend Aboubakar scores a massive contract with oil-rich Saudis of Al-Nassr

After a highly respectable career in France, Portugal and Turkey, Vincent Aboubakar will add Saudi Arabia as a stop on his globe-trotting tour. The Cameroon international has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Al-Nassr FC, one of the Middle East country’s best-supported clubs. It’s a big payday for the 29-year-old Indomitable Lions star, who will pocket an estimated $7 million per season. If he remains with Al-Nassr until the end of the contract, Vincent will be $21 million richer. It’s a fantastic contract – much better than the one he’s had in Turkey. However, credit has to be given to the Turkish club for re-igniting Aboubakar’s career following a string of serious injuries.I leave a special club for another special club. I am really happy and honored to join Alnassr💛. I will face a new challenge and I will give my best to continue the club’s special history. This is the only Twitter account that I have .#النصر pic.twitter.com/EWuWCoI1ZQ— Vincent Aboubakar (@Vincent_Aboubak) July 8, 2021 Besiktas probably didn’t expect the Cameroonian to have such a good season following his rehabilitation period, so they only gave him a one-year deal. Aboubakar exceeded all expectations as he bagged 16 goals in 29 matches and drew the attention of the wealthy Saudis.Having started his career at Coton Sport in his native Cameroon, Aboubakar has since had stints at French clubs Valenciennes and Lorient, Porto in Portugal, and Besiktas. He has also scored 25 goals in 71 international matches for Cameroon.Vincent Aboubakar is Here! 💛🔥 pic.twitter.com/DJSWTXKZUp— AlNassr FC (@AlNassrFC_EN) July 8, 2021 He started making his mark in one of Europe’s top leagues with FC Porto in 2014 and spent six years there apart from one season on loan at Besiktas, making 125 appearances while scoring 58 goals and providing 16 assists. In Porto’s blue and white stripes, Aboubakar lifted two Primeira Liga titles, the Taca de Portugal and the Portuguese Super Cup. Al-Nassr haven’t won a title for over two years now, and after their disastrous 2020/2021 season, where they finished sixth and missed out on continental football for the first time in five years, they are in dire need of star power within their squad. Recently, they’ve added Argentine former River Plate playmaker Pity Martinez, Brazilians Petros and Talisca and Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah to their ranks.
