Ulinzi handed a huge boost with return of key striker

Football Kenya Federation PL side Ulinzi Stars have been handed a shot in the arm with the return of their talisman Enosh Ochieng’, in a department that they have struggled in this season. The forward, still eligible to feature for the Nakuru-based side this season, will be up for selection in the remaining 10 matches for the Soldiers as they try to push for a decent league finish.Ochieng has been away from the team on official duties since January and featured last in the match against Vihiga United, with the club making the announcement that he would be away after that game.

Enosh finished the 2018/19 season as joint top scorer with 17 goals alongside Kakamega Homeboyz’s Allan Wanga and Umaru Kasumba who was turning for Sofapaka then after his hattrick against Mt Kenya United was chopped off following a decision by Independent Disciplinary, Complaint and Appeals Committee to nullify the results of the match and award a walkover to Ulinzi Stars. The Soldiers have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring a paltry 18 goals in 22 matches, with Enosh scoring one of those in the 2-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz in December before he left.In the absence of the 2019 ‘Golden Boot’ winner coach Benjamin Nyangweso had to make do with Oscar Wamalwa and Masita Masuta leading the attack when called upon.In other instances, some unfamiliar faces in that position have been thrown up the field and tasked with the goal hunt for Ulinzi including midfielder Ibrahim Shambi. The reigning Cecafa Senior Challenge top scorer Wamalwa tops the scoring chart for Ulinzi Stars with 3 goals while Masita has two to his name together with Elvis Nandwa, John Njuguna, and Boniface Okinyi.Though leading the charts, Wamalwa is yet to regain the scoring form that saw him entice Francis Kimanzi and earn a place in the CECAFA Senior Challenge squad despite recovering from a shoulder injury that saw him go under the knife last year.Ulinzi remain 10th on the log with 28 points from 22 games.
