An emphatic final ten minute performance in Nakuru’s ASK Grounds saw Kakamega Homeboyz resoundingly come from behind to whip Mathare United 4 – 2 in matchday 25 of FKF Premier League action played on Saturday afternoon.Coming into the match, head coach Frank Ouna had specifically pinpointed the team’s inability to settle early in the game. His prophetic premonition coming to haunt Mathare once again as, just in the ninth minute of the game, Homeboyz player Shami Kibwana was on hand to stab the ball in from close range, Mathare one nil down.Despite suffering the early setback, Mathare, who had two out of three wins coming into the match, gradually picked up themselves and started dictating the game’s tempo. Nicholas Muyoti’s Homeboyz found it difficult to contain a resplendent Mathare who were now in full control of the game, Francis Omondi forced to pick a card in the 23rd minute for using his hands rather than legs in breaking the game’s play. Just seven minutes later, in the 64th minute, the winger utilized the momentum as he racked up his brace when he hit the back of the net to give his side a second goal and the lead in the match.With just eight minutes left on the clock and Homeboyz looking at the possibility of losing against Mathare for the first time in four attempts, the game was once again thrown into level pegging as Moses Mudavadi drilled in a low shot into the bottom right corner to set up a tense end to the frantic game. And if Mathare thought about holding onto a point to take back to Nairobi with a lon term game plan of adding to their points, Shami had other totally opposing ideas for his side that came into the match placed ninth.
