Kenyan midfielder Tyler Onyango is ahead of schedule in his recovery and he could return to action before the end of Everton’s pre-season.Onyango, who made his senior debut for the Liverpool-based club in January against Sheffield Wednesday was highly rated by former Everton coach Carlo Ancelotti who has since left the club for Real Madrid. The youngster’s season prematurely came to an end in April when he fractured his ankle and damaged his ligament as well during a U18 game against Manchester City. The Liverpool Echo now reports that a recent visit to a specialist in London showed that he is ahead of schedule in terms of recovery and is expected to join the first team in the final stages of the pre-season where he will get an opportunity to impress the new boss Rafael Benitez. The publication further reports that the Spanish tactician is keen on watching the player closely before making a decision on whether to send him out on loan or integrate him into his team immediately. Onyango is highly rated within the Everton ranks and many believe he could walk into the first team without necessarily going out on loan for more playtime and experience.BREAKINGKenyan midfielder Tyler Onyango named in Everton’s team to play Sheffield Wednesday. pic.twitter.com/CKoEMp5UHI— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) January 24, 2021 Primarily a central midfielder, Onyango can also play as a defensive midfielder. His imposing frame makes him a nightmare for opponents in the middle of the park.Born to a Kenyan father and an English father, Onyango has turned out for the England U17 side but is still eligible for Kenya’s other age categories and the senior team should he be interested in representing his father’s land and not the Three Lions.##EDITORS_CHOICE##
