Kenyan-born winger moves to Greece

Kenyan-born winger Bruce Kamau has joined Greek top-tier club, OFI Crete Football Club on a three-year deal from Australian club Western Sydney Wanderers.Kamau leaves the A-League after seven years having turned out for Adelaide Olympic, Adelaide United Melbourne City, and Western City before his move to Greece. In total, he made a total of 135 A-League appearances and won one league title with Sydney United in 2016.He has now sealed a move to the Crete-based club and in an interview with news.com.au, Kamau said he chose OFI because of their brand of football which he believes suits him.“OFI is club that suits me in terms of them wanting to play attacking football and that’s one of my strengths,” he said.Bruce Kamau, who won the A-League Championship with United in 2015/2016, is set to join OFI Crete in the Greece Super League. Kamau grew up in Adelaide and spent 4 years at the Reds, making 32 appearances and scoring 3 goals, including in the 2016 A-League Final. [lewisatlarge] pic.twitter.com/Vd33uFkbtz— Adelaide United Transfer Hub (@AUFC_TH) July 6, 2021 Born in Nairobi Kenya, Kamau has played for the Australia U23 team and he believes that moving to Greece will enable him to turn out for the Australian senior team, the Socceroos.“It’s been an ambition of mine to go to Europe and to play regularly in the Greek Super League is going to help with my ambitions for the Socceroos as well, and I’m really pushing to get into the World Cup squad,” he added.“For me, it’s about keeping up the form that will get me on the radar of the coach (Socceroos boss Graham Arnold), and I know once I get my opportunity, I’ll take it with both hands.”Founded in 1925, OFI play their matches at the 9,000 sitter, Theodoros Vardinogiannis Stadium. They won the Greek Cup in 1987.
