Emerging Stars have landed a kind draw in the CECAFA Under-23 tournament slated for Bahir Dar, Ethiopia having been pooled in Group C against South Sudan and Djibouti.The tournament is set to tentatively kick off on Sunday 18 July after it was initially postponed from Saturday 3 July due to travel restrictions amongst other issues.Group A will see Uganda renew their rivalries with neighbours Tanzania with the Democratic Republic of Congo completing the group as an invited guest.Group B includes hosts Ethiopia who will come up against neighbours Eritrea and Burundi who will today set up their preparations when they face top tier side Aigle Noir.#EmergingStars has been pooled in Group C of the upcoming CECAFA U23 Championships👉https://t.co/uNoJMwSCcZ pic.twitter.com/uvFCIpaaPv— Harambee Stars (@Harambee__Stars) July 13, 2021 Somalia and Rwanda pulled out of the tournament with the latter citing the lockdown placed in the country to curb the spread of spike in Covid-19 cases making it impossible to travel.Emerging Stars are set to leave for Ethiopia on Wednesday 14 July to honour the regional tournament that is on its inaugural edition as CECAFA struggles to restructure its tournaments.Head coach Stanley Okumbi and his charges held the last training session on Tuesday 13 July but is set to name his final list of players to attend the tournament.
