Kenyan international Cliff Nyakeya has ended his two years association with Egyptian outfit FC Masr (ZED) after enduring some turbulent times with the side.Nyakeya joined the side back in July 2019 after an outstanding season with Mathare United where he bagged 14 goals just three shy of top scorers, Enosh Ochieng, Allan Wanga and Umaru Kasumba.

Nyakeya took to Facebook to announce his unceremonious exit from Masr citing some challenges with the club but took time to wish them well in their endeavours. “I have had to go through a lot the past one year and now I have decided to end my contract with FC MASR (ZED) after two years by mutual consent, thank you for the trust and the opportunity you gave me to play in the Egyptian League and for the first time outside my country,” wrote Nyakeya.Masr failed to secure promotion back into the Egyptian Premier League after suffering relegation from the top-flight in the 2019-2020 season.Nyakeya aided the club to a ninth-place finish in the league following an inconsistent season that saw them win nine, draw on 12 occasions and lose nine games.Kenyan international Cliff Nyakeya has terminated his contract with Egyptian side, FC Masr#KenyansAbroad pic.twitter.com/IZpZ2aqLTU— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) July 14, 2021 The former Gor Mahia Youth midfielder has been a vital cog in the Harambee Stars wheel as he netted in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Comoros and the friendly against Zambia.According to reliable sources, Nyakeya has had to endure with salary delays at FC Masr and the club has never worked on securing him a work permit to enable him travel and work easily in Egypt. These were the main reasons the highly-rated forward has parted ways with the club. The 26-year-old bagged the Midfielder of the Year in the 2018 Kenyan Premier League award following another stellar season with Mathare United. He is expected back in Kenya early next week.
