Sharks duo hit final step in rehabilitation from injury

Kariobangi Sharks duo of defender Samuel Olwande and Emerging Stars U23 winger Patrick Otieno are hopeful of taking to the pitch soon after the two stepped up their rehabilitation from their respective long term injuries by commencing gradual exposure to football training.Back in April, Olwande had been ruled out for four months after spraining his right ankle while in the Harambee Stars camp that was preparing for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt and Togo. The former Mathare United defender was consequently forced to undergo a surgery to fix the torn cartilage on his ankle.Similarly, Otieno went under the knife in February following a torn right knee meniscus picked up in Sharks’ barren draw against Ulinzi Stars in January. In a post on the club’s portals, Sharks gave an update on the duo’s progress but did not indicate the time frame they are likely to complete the comeback.“Samuel Olwande and Patrick Otieno have advanced to normal runnings and gradual exposure to football trainings,” the club posted.🚨| INJURY PROGRESS Samuel Olwande and Patrick Otieno have advanced to normal runnings and gradual exposure to football trainings.#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/sKloS4BGUA— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) July 13, 2021 Olwandes’s injury was not the first time that the experienced defender had underwent operation as back in 2018, while at Mathare, the player faced the knife after tearing his right knee meniscus back then.🗞️|Samuel Olwande, who had a torn cartilage on his right ankle underwent a successful surgery yesterday and has been discharged today. We wish him a speedy recovery.#WeAreSharks#BetwayKenya pic.twitter.com/bTMWJfSz9E— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) April 16, 2021 It is however expected the two will not be able to make it in time before this season wraps up as only ten games remaining before the curtains draw to a close within the next one month. On a positive front, right back Daniel Sakari who has been missing in action since 20th June is in line to get his first feature after successfully recuperating on a setback suffered a while ago. Sharks are in line to take on Vihiga United in their next fixture.
