A stoppage time goal from Posta Rangers midfielder Bernard Ondiek has denied Sofapaka maximum points at Wundanyi Stadium as they played out a one-all draw. Sofapaka were headed for a narrow win after taking the lead through Titus Achesa in the 26th minute but Ondiek broke their hearts after kissing the back of the net in the dying minutes of the game. The rain began beating Sofapaka when their wing back Sammy Imbuye was sent off in the 72nd minute for a second bookable offence which gave the visitors the hope.Prior to the incident, Timothy Otieno squandered a glorious opportunity to net his first league goal for the club as well as double their advantage as he failed to convert from the spot.A point at home against RangersFT Sofapaka 1-1 Posta Rangers@betikaKe #BatotoBaMungu pic.twitter.com/AW0soQrB2c— Sofapaka FC (@FC_Sofapaka) July 17, 2021 Sofapaka were gifted a penalty four minutes to the half time whistle after Nigerian import Sebastine Sunday was brought down in the area only for Otieno to miss from the spot. With Batoto Ba Mungu yearning for their eighth win of the season, coach Kennedy Odhiambo brought in the attack minded duo of Joe Waithira and Ambrose Sifuna for Isaac Mitima and Nixon Omondi in the second half. However their inclusion did not translate to goals as Rangers who were without their head coach Stanley Okumbi contained their thrust and would take control of the game after Imbuye was served with his marching orders.
Following the result, Rangers who are three places above the red zone have the highest number of draws in the league (12) with Bidco United and Ulinzi Stars having ten against their names.Sofapaka remain eleventh with thirty points.
