Amboko speaks of his targets after being named City Stars boss

After being confirmed as the new Nairobi City Stars head coach, John Amboko has revealed his intentions of accomplishing his predecessor’s target for the season. Amboko was elevated to fill the void left by Sanjin Alagic who parted ways with the club hours after their one-all draw with Gor Mahia on Saturday following the expiry of his contract. The former defender was named the club’s head coach in 2017 after his boss Robert Matano was headhunted by Bidco United and served until the arrival of Alagic in 2019.When City Stars who by then were plying their trade in the National Super League (NSL) appointed the Bosnian gaffer, Amboko was relegated to the second assistant as Nihad Nalbantic deputized the former until February this year.⚽️| Nairobi City Stars head coach Sanjin Alagic parts ways with club on mutual consent. My gratitude goes to the management for having the trust in me. I do not intend to make any changes as far as targets are concerned. Alagic wanted to help the team maintain its slot in the top flight and now that we are ninety per cent sure about it, we will focus on finishing in a respectable rank, ” he said. The former AFC Leopards defender in the meantime thanked his outgoing boss for improving his coaching skills and helping restore the club’s glory.Nairobi City Stars held a farewell party for their departing coach, Sanjin Alagic#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/th4L6HqEjH— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) July 17, 2021 He said he was open to consultations and working with him in the future should another opportunity present itself. “He was more than a friend to me and I promise to continue with the good job he was doing.
