FC Talanta have once again laid bare their intentions of securing automatic promotion to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) after humbling Mt. Kenya United 2-1 at the Gems Cambridge grounds to register their 16th win of the season. Talanta who top the standings with 53 points, six ahead of second-placed Fortune Sacco were forced to recover from a goal down to edge the former top-flight side who had broken the deadlock through Kelvin Ndung’u in the ninth minute. The Kasarani based club evened the scores in the 16th minute through Anthony Gicho who netted from the spot and would seal the three points in the 39th minute when Wazito loanee Castro Ogendo found the back of the net.

Kenya’s bid to pick a point from the duel suffered a blow in the second half as Lameck Omondi was handed his marching orders, leaving his side with a numerical disadvantage.Further, the relegation fighting club will have themselves to blame for squandering a second-half penalty which was palmed to safety by Kelvin Otieno.
