Sharks to hand more kids playtime in the remaining matches

Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya says he will throw in more kids in the remaining matches of the season after handing two youth team players their debuts on Saturday in the 4-0 win over Vihiga United at the Thika Sub-County Stadium.Midfielder Mathew Kibiwott was thrown into the deep end in the 60th minute, replacing Reagan Odede while young defender Geoffrey Onyango replaced Peter Lwasa in the 71st min, both are from the Sharks’ under 20 team.Speaking after the match, Muluya praised the pair and revealed that more young players will feature in the remaining seven games of the season as he currently has a very lean first-team squad. “Good job from Mathew Kibiwot and of course Onyango who came in. In the remaining matches because I really have a lean squad you’ll see more young players. We have nothing to lose or anything big that we are yearning for and the best thing to do right now is to promote the youth because that’s what Kariobangi Sharks is made of, because if we do not give these boys a chance then no one else will,” he stated.🗞️| 2 of the 4 youngsters named on the bench against Vihiga United had a feel of @Officialfkfpl📑| Mathew Kibiwott and Geoffrey Onyango were introduced in the 60th and 71st minute respectively and were key in quick transition to the opponents half.#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/Yo69WYgpOL— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) July 18, 2021 Kibiwott was particularly impressive in the middle of the park, he looked unfazed as he severally took on experienced Vihiga players. He displayed some good dribbling and passing skills and Muluya was impressed by the player despite the fact that the boots he wore did not look ideal.“A good performance, being the first time, I think next time he will come more prepared. You saw that he didn’t have the best kits today. The playing boots really troubled him but it is a good performance from him I intend to give him more playtime,” he added. On the player’s right position, Muluya said he does not want to have a fixed position for him right now as he is still young and growing.“His position is probably behind the striker because he is a mobile kid but again it is too early for us to say he can be a striker or a number 10. We have had situations where the likes of Osborne Monday playing as a wingback, Clyde Senaji playing a centre-back so for now you’ll find in the wings or midfield,” he concluded.Next for Sharks is a match against Gor Mahia.
