Kenyan International goalkeeper Patrick Matasi could be on his way back to Tusker FC when his contract with Ethiopia’s St. George FC lapses in October. The custodian had earlier told Mozzart Sport that he would be ending his association with the Ethiopian giants due to personal reasons amid reports of interest from the 11-time league champions.A source close to the goalkeeper speaking anonymously told Mozzart Sport that the CAF Champions League-bound club have been inquiring about the availability of the goalkeeper since January and a move could be imminent”He talked to St George and asked for a release as one cannot make a move without a release, and they agreed. He is still waiting for the release so that he can go ahead. he has had two approaches from two teams in the league, Tusker, and Bandari among other clubs,” the source stated.A champion is defined not by their wins, but by how they can recover when they fall. – Serena Williams#MondayMotivation #Matasi pic.twitter.com/rgIHpna30s— Patrick Matasi (@matasi_patrick) July 19, 2021 The source went ahead to state that Matasi has not been in a position to engage officially with the interested clubs as he has been away attending to his family after they suffered a gruesome accident at the start of last month.”Tusker have been asking about him since January but he told them to wait until he clears with St George FC. There have been no official offers yet, just the approaches. He has been away taking care of his family since the start of June and has not been in a position to hold talks with either club. Maybe he will do that soon when he comes back to Nairobi. The coach at Bandari has been pushing that he wants to work with him, but Matasi put them on hold also till the release is ready,” he added.🔙 #TBT CECAFA 2017 Golden gloves and player of the tournament. #Matasi pic.twitter.com/0Ru00FGVEo— Patrick Matasi (@matasi_patrick) July 15, 2021 Matasi and his family were involved in a grisly road accident on June 1 but has since resumed personal training while his wife and kid continue their recuperation. He joined Tusker in 2018 from Posta Rangers but left the same year for Ethiopia where he has been, and a move back could see him play at the continental stage next season.
