On Saturday evening, FKF Premier League side, Nairobi City Stars caught many by surprise when they announced that coach Sanjin Alagic would be exiting after two years at the club. The one-all draw against Gor Mahia was his final assignment as Simba wa Nairobi boss. The Bosnian requested that he be excused so that he can go back home to attend to family issues, and the club, albeit half-heartedly allowed him to leave. Sanin had a special bond with Nairobi City Stars playing unit and it is no surprise that many of the players have taken to social media to thank and wish him the best for the future. The tactician was known for his captivating attacking brand of football and in his recent interview, he complained about having his team playing at Ruaraka Grounds as it denies them the opportunity to play their passing football due to the poor state of the surface. With the Bosnian gone, Mozzart Sports takes a look at local coaches who could take over at the Kawangware-based FKF Premier League side.Anthony KimaniWhen Anthony Kimani left AFC Leopards in February, City Stars was one of the sides rumored to be interested in him, the Kawangware based side wanted him to serve as Sanjin’s assistant, he eventually moved to Bandari where he linked up with his mentor, Andre Cassa Mbungo. With the head coach job now available, Kimani is an outright suitable candidate. During his two stints as AFC Leopards’ interim coach, his team played beautiful, attacking football. Sanjin had set up City Stars to play good attacking football and Kimani could be the man to continue with the good attacking philosophy. It will also be a good opportunity for him to grow as a coach as the ambitious club rises to become one of the biggest sides in Kenyan football.Cassa-Modo reunion Immediate former AFC Leopards interim/assistant coach Anthony Kimani is set to join Bandari as an assistant coach. He will work under Andre Cassa Mbungo whom he deputized at AFC Leopards#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/FjU1kDHkOv— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) February 16, 2021 Bernard MwalalaThe Kakamega Homeboyz assistant coach is known for his fast attacking football. While in charge of Nzoia he led them back to the FKF Premier League after a decade in the lower tier, he had built a great tea from scratch but eventually, nearly all the players left for bigger FKF PL sides. At Bandari Bandari he helped them finish second in the league, won the FKF Cup, and led them to the CAF Confederation Cup. He is a youthful coach who will definitely improve with more coaching experiences. If City Stars decide to go local, then the former Kenyan international is a viable option for the Jonathan Jackson-owned outfit. He downed Bandari in the quarters before losing to AFC Leopards via post-match penalties in the semis. It also played a part in redeeming his name after his shocking dismissal from Sofapaka last December. His team is second in the league and is firmly on course for promotion to the National Super League. Baraza is one of the highly rated young coaches in the country and his calm demeanor could make him a perfect fit for City Stars.Former Sofapaka FC head coach John Baraza has led Equity FC to the FKF Cup quarters.
