KCB head coach Zedekiah Otieno is not about to concede title defeat despite his side losing ground to cruising league leaders Tusker.Zico is adamant that the title race is far from over even after KCB’s latest slip in Thika where they were held to a one-all draw by Wazito FC.The Bankers trail the Brewers by six points with eight games to go although Tusker have played a game more. The gap could be stretched to nine points by the end of Tuesday should Tusker defeat Mathare United at Ruaraka Grounds.KCB on the other hand will be in action on Wednesday against Ulinzi Stars at the same venue. Tusker have already been awarded the CAF Champions League slot for next season as they topped the league on 30th June, which was the CAF deadline day for federations to send the names of their representatives. The title race has been reduced to the two teams after AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia dropped out after some unsatisfactory results in recent weeks. When the two contestants met just over a week ago, KCB went 2-0 inside the first 24 minutes and many opined that Tusker could be running out of gas only for them to salvage a point from the match with two great second-half goals.FULL TIME Wazito FC 1 KCB FC 1#WazitoVsKCB#BKPL pic.twitter.com/uAFHl6bMl8— Betking Kenya Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) July 17, 2021 Despite another slip on Saturday, Zico maintains that his team is still firmly in title contention. He believes that the race for this season’s trophy will take further twists and turns before the campaign comes to a close.“For us it’s one match at a time because we have like eight more games to play, eight game is 24 points to play for and we are not worried that we dropped two points against Wazito. We are going to focus on our next game and we will see what happens at the end of the campaign but for me, it is too soon to get worried about what will happen at the end of the season with so many games left,” he said.Tusker leads the way with 54 points while second-placed Bankers have 48 points.
