Macharia optimistic Gor will end five-game winless run

With Gor Mahia currently enduring their longest league winless run since 2016, midfielder John Macharia is hoping they can return back to winning ways against Kariobangi Sharks on Wednesday. The last time K’Ogalo went five games without a win in the league, Tusker FC won the title and coincidentally the Brewers currently sit at the summit of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL).Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Macharia admitted that the club has endured a whirlwind couple of weeks but the storm has now settled with the players eager to play.🗓️| Kesho we go to them.💭| Your thoughts on tomorrow’s game?#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/HvRHQ2GsLz— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) July 20, 2021 “There has been a bit of challenge like the coach has now left and there were some rumours that players are on their way out but now we more focused, players want to play the remaining games as we now have maximum concentration,”“Our last draw against City Stars was a good result for us to built on and start a winning run and I believe tomorrow we are going to win because the result will determine where we finish at the end of the season and we want to finish in a good position,” said Macharia.Back in 2016, the winless run saw Gor pick up draws against Chemelil Sugar, Posta Rangers, Ulinzi Stars and Nairobi Stars with the streak also including the now infamous last AFC Leopards victory over K’Ogalo. Macharia however noted that the exit of Manuel Vaz Pinto who guided the club to their first FKF Cup title in nine years will not affect the club.
