Mathare United head coach Frank Ouna has lauded goalkeeper David Okello for his great show in their last two league outings as the bottom-placed Slum Boys continue to battle to avoid the drop from the FKF Premier League (FKF-PL).Okello has played in goal in the last two games after he was recalled to replace Job Ochieng who dropped to the subs bench. Okello put in a good show against Bidco United last week despite the fact that they went down 1-0 at the Thika Sub-County Stadium. On Tuesday he put in his best show against Tusker FC earning his side a point in a 0-0 draw against the league leaders, appoint that could prove crucial in their survival bid. In an interview, Ouna was full of praise for the veteran custodian.⭐|David Okello of @MathareUtd is your Man of the Match#BKPL pic.twitter.com/GqjhIs1seM— Betking Kenya Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) July 20, 2021 “He has been good since he came in between the posts, he is experienced and has given us a lot of surety between the posts especially with the high balls. He gives us confidence when we play against long balls teams because we have a keeper who can defend against such and we deliberately fielded him against Tusker because we expected a lot of long-balls from them,” Ouna stated.Mathare remains rooted at the bottom of the FKF Premier League table with 15 points after 25 rounds of league matches. Next for Ouna’s charges is an away game against Wazito FC.The 2008 league champions find themselves in a similar situation that they were in in 2017. The team’s on-pitch struggles in this campaign have largely been attributed to the financial struggles that they are currently facing. In May has opted to fire Coach Salim Ali after a
poor run and replaced him with Ouna who has managed to get two wins, two draws, and seven defeats in 11 games that he has been in charge of.
