Whyvone Isuza came off the bench to score a late winner for Wazito as they completed the season’s double over Kakamega Homeboyz with a 1-0 triumph in an FKF Premier League match staged at the ASK Grounds in Nakuru on Wednesday afternoon. Heading into the match, the hosts, Kakamega Homeboyz were seeking a fourth successive league win while Wazito were keen on bringing their two-match winless run to a halt.The first half was largely balanced but Homeboyz had better opportunities. The first went Shami Kibwana’s way in the 13th minute but his goal-bound shot was blocked by Wazito captain Johnstone Omurwa. Wazito’s Rooney Onyango forced a great save from Godfrey Oputi in the 16th minute with a thumping header from an Asieche delivery. Ten minutes before the break Allan Wanga saw his freekick from a prime position hit the wall. In the 54th minute, Kevin Kimani thought he had given his side the lead only for his shot to be cleared off the line by Brian Chala. Two minutes later, it was Wazito’s turn to clear the ball off the line, this time Omurwa denying Allan Wanga.Wazito coach Francis Kimanzi made three changes after the hour mark. Whyvonne Isuza, Vincent Oburu, and Joseph Odhiambo were introduced for John Odhiambo, Amos Asembeke, and Fidel Origa as the tactician tweaked his formation to add more punch in attack.The changes worked for Wazito as they took control of the game in the closing stages pinning Homeboyz to their half. Isuza would then steal the win with an 89th-minute goal. His long-range shot beat Oputi on Homeboyz’s goal to earn Wazito all three points.The win sees Wazito complete the season’s double over Nicholas Muyoti’s side. They down the Kakamega-based side by a similar margin in the first leg. Next for Homeboyz is a match against Sofapaka while Wazito will take on Mathare.
