Pamzo opens up on turbulent times at Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia interim head coach Sammy Pamzo Omollo was thrown into the deep end after taking over the reins from Manuel Vaz Pinto and has opened up on the tough task at hand. Pamzo suffered his first loss since assuming the head coach albeit on an interim basis as Gor Mahia went down 2-1 to Kariobangi Sharks on Wednesday. Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Pamzo bemoaned the lean squad at his disposal which has forced him to field ‘inexperienced’ players following a growing injury list at the club. “It was a tough game (against Sharks), my squad is depleted, there are a number of things that have happened this season we have lost players through injuries and other things, yesterday we also had Geoffrey going out with injury,”⏹️| Full time ✅ They worked hard but we worked harder.#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/PybwEKzrVK— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) July 21, 2021 “We are forced to play inexperienced players in key positions, John Ochieng played in midfield in the absence of Muguna, Nkata played in place of Geoffrey but we want to finish the league strongly,” said Pamzo.Goals from Robert Onyango and Eric Kapaito who has opened up an eight-point gap at the summit of the top scorer’s list after notching his 22nd of the season with Jules Ulimwengu scoring a late consolation goal.Pamzo also confirmed the exit of Charles Momanyi who is yet to feature for the club since bagging the FKF Cup against arch-rivals AFC Leopards. “He did not give the bench official communication, he told us after the FKF Cup that he has ended his time at Gor Mahia,”“I think he still had a contract with Gor Mahia because FKF said that if your contract ends before the season you are bound to play until the end of the season,” added Pamzo.
