Juma on how Stima beat Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards

Western Stima head coach Abdalla Juma has pegged his impressive performances against Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards to a strong mentality from his players despite being a bogey team to the Kenyan football giants.Stima did the double over AFC Leopards to further enhance their chances of survival as they are currently embroiled in a relegation dog fight. The Powermen also secured a 2-1 win over Gor Mahia back in June to end the reigning champions’13-game unbeaten run that stretched back to March but suffered a 3-1 loss in the first leg.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Juma noted that despite being tricky customers to AFC Leopards, they had to earn their victory by putting in an extra shift.“I tried to motivate and talk to them, for AFC Leopards I told them that history only repeats itself when you work positively, they have been doing it against AFC Leopards and they had to do it again,”“I knew AFC Leopards were not up to their strengths and how I know them and we badly needed the three points because we were in a bad position and needed a win,” said Juma.Stima currently possesses a four-point advantage over Vihiga United with eight games left to the end of the season as they look to secure their third consecutive season in the top flight.

The former AFC Leopards head coach revealed that beating Gor Mahia was down to a strong mentality but are wary of Nzioa Sugar who are ahead of them in the log. “I think it boils down to mentality, right now we have a thirst to win, we are looking at teams below us and they are also picking up points so we also need a victory,”“The team giving us a headache is Nzoia, on Wednesday they picked up a draw and have left us with a single point, the team is now starting to gel and we have also adapted to the Nakuru ASK Ground,” added Juma.
