Madrid is on fire: Mbappe informs Pochettino he won’t renew his contact with PSG

As summer continues and EURO 2020 is finished, transfer business is heating up, and biggest dilemma’s in the 2021 are finally unrevealing one by one. After Jadon Sancho’s happy ending drama just days ago, it seems that we are one step closer to another transfer revelation. The Spanish media are reporting that Kylian Mbappe has told his coach Mauricio Pochettino that he won’t renew his contract with PSG.First training is a wrap. Great to meet my new team mates 🙌🏾 #icicestparis pic.twitter.com/lMDZ52b1Mc— Gini Wijnaldum (@GWijnaldum) July 23, 2021 The French striker took his time to make this decision, as the PSG hierarchy started to gently press the player since the beginning of 2021. The need for Mbappe to sign is obvious, as his contract is up in 2022, and the Parisians wanted the earliest possible answer in order to either extend the Frenchman, or sell him as soon as possible. But the reply came in late July.Gini Wijnaldum officially at Parc de PrincesStill, this news should be taken with ’a pinch of sault’, since only Spanish media (AS and Marca) reported about this, while not a single French media had a story concerning Mbappe. As AS writes, the PSG striker cut his holiday short and reported back to Paris, where he went to all the regular medicine tests ahead of the pre-season, and after that, when to see Pochettino. The conversation took only a few minutes, and Posch was informed that his best striker won’t commit long term. It is also unknown if the Argentinian was the first person in the club to hear the news (he and Mbappe have a good relationship), or the Frenchman maybe informed somebody from the hierarchy via his agent. Le Paris Saint-Germain est heureux d’annoncer que Mauricio Pochettino et son staff sont désormais liés au club de la capitale jusqu’au 30 juin 2023. ✍️🔴🔵— Paris Saint-Germain (@PSG_inside) July 23, 2021 The news (if they are genuine) are coming in the middle of massive transfer activity for the Parisians, as they already spent 9.7 billion Ksh on new faces (Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos, Donnarumma, Hakimi) and also extended Pochettino for another season. The reports say that Mbappe respects the club and won’t force an exit, but expects Real Madrid to come calling. In recent times, we had cases when players are leaving their boyhood clubs or sign for fierce rivals just because of money, and yet, in this case, Mbappe obviously wants to make the next step in his career and try his luck in some stronger leagues.
