Kakamega Homeboyz came from a goal down to upstage Sofapaka 1-2 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at Wundanyi Stadium on Sunday afternoon, a win that saw the Kakamega based side complete the famous league double over Batoto ba Mungu who they beat 1-0 in the reverse fixture.Similar to the last fixture against Posta Rangers where they ended up drawing 1-1, Sofapaka were unable to use their home ground advantage to see out the narrow one nil lead that they had by the half time break. Midfielder Sunday Ikekhai had given them the marginal advantage with a strike in the 27th minute, a goal that they would keep until the half way interval but could not hold onto in the second 45 where things came crumbling down.Full Time We come out stronger in Wundanyi through Stephen Opoku and Steven Wakanya’s second half strikes.Sofa 1-2 Homeboyz pic.twitter.com/o0H0fvr3Ft— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) July 25, 2021 Just five minutes into the second half, Stephen Opoku restored parity in the match and set the foundation of what was to come. Fourteen minutes to time, an exquisite free kick from Stephen Wakhanya gave the visiting team the lead for the first time in the game, a goal that would prove priceless.Even with the return of club top scorer Lawrence Juma to the starting eleven after serving suspension for accumulating five yellow cards, Sofapaka could not put up any fight as Homeboyz walked away with the three points and a league double as they extended Sofapaka’s winless run to four straight games.🌕| Full TimeHomeboyz come from behind to complete the league double over Sofapaka#SofapakaVsHomeboyz#BKPL pic.twitter.com/NY4RKKsgtK— Betking Kenya Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) July 25, 2021 With the three points that got back the team to winning ways, Nicholas Muyoti’s charges leapfrogged upto sixth place on the log table on 40 points as Sofapaka stagnated in 12th position.
