Mihang’o FKF Sub-County league top dogs Small Simba was on Sunday evening given a 2-1 reality check by gallant City at Kibiku grounds.First half saw Small Simba stage a barrage of attacks but their lone striker Eric Odhiambo could not convert the numerous scoring opportunities and the two teams went to the breather goalless after feisty opening forty five minutes.Eagle City tactician Reagan Kibet made two crucial changes in the second half that saw the game tempo and intensity change and just four minutes into the second half, Eagle City’s substitute Rashford Kelvin received a fine cross from Mike Nzoma then sent Small Simba shot stopper the wrong way with his ferocious diving header to break the deadlock.The goal further opened the match as both teams went looking for more goals in an entertaining end to end contest.The endeavours bore fruits in the 65th minute as Eagle City’s goal scorer Kelvin laid a well calculated through pass for Nzoma in a scoring position and the latter made no mistake with his finish, sending Simba custodian shopping to double Eagle City’s lead.The game saw Eagle City’s goalie Naboth Akoyo making a crucial save in the 80th minute when Small Simba substitute striker Daniel Otieno let fly a rasping shot from eighteen yards.Shortly afterwards, Small Simba grabbed their consolation goal after a miss communication between the Eagle City goalkeeper and his defender Vumi Okeu allowed the ball to trickle into the net to create a frantic finish to the game. Eagle City held on for a crucial win despite the late pressure.The win is now second in a row for Eagle City in the ongoing Mihang’o FKF Sub-County league after a narrow one nil win over Vatican Fc last weekend.Speaking after the match, Eagle City tactician Kibet praised his boys for the efforts they put up and ensuring that they walked away with the three maximum points.“I think today my boys played extremely well and that’s why we won the game and I’m very happy that our efforts were eventually rewarded”.Kibet urged his players to continue working hard and show a fighting spirit as they still have a long way to go.The win has left Eagle City second in the table standings with eight points, one point behind league leaders Rising City.Saturday 31st July fixtures will see Eagle City lock horns with Millan at their home ground whereas Small Simba will be action with Deportivo Leon at Embakasi girls.
