Wazito FC will host relegation battling Mathare United at the Thika Sub-County Stadium on Sunday afternoon.This is a match that the Slum Boys will be fully focused on getting a positive result to build on their famous midweek 0-0 draw against league leaders Tusker FC at the Ruaraka Grounds.It is also a match that will pit the two coaches against their former clubs. Wazito’s Francis Kimanzi is an ex Mathare United player and coach. He has had several stints on Mathare’s hot seat and won them the 2008 league title, his recent stint with the club ended in 2019. Mathare’s Frank Ouna on the other hand has served as Wazito’s assistant coach and head coach. He was in charge of the team when it got promoted to the FKF Premier League for the first time ever in 2017.Wazito are seventh in the FKFPL log with 38 points and their last game ended in a 1-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz. There’s some good development and indicators that we can be a very competitive team,” he said.Mathare’s Ouna feels his team has been unlucky in some situations and is adamant that they will not go down.“We are down on our luck at the moment. We are playing well in matches and creating chances that if we convert then we are not in this position. It is frustrating but I believe we have the character to turn this around. We just have to be patient with the chances that we create. The two or three teams above us on the table are within touching distance, we can turn it around. I harbour the belief that we can do it and until it is mathematically impossible, don’t count us out,” he stated
