Pamzo admits Gor Mahia were poor against Ulinzi

Gor Mahia interim coach Sammy Omollo has admitted that his side did not turn up against Ulinzi Stars leading to the 1-0 defeat by the military outfit on Monday afternoon at the ASK Grounds in Nakuru.Alex Masinde’s first-half goal is all the Soldiers needed to bounce back from last week’s loss to KCB and in the process prolonged the reigning champions’ winless run in the league to seven matches.Speaking after the match, Omolo criticized his side for playing badly until Ulinzi Stars scored their goal. He said his side showed effort only after going behind.“Today we did not play well compared to how we played against City Stars. We only started playing well after conceding and it is something I don’t like because these days teams have learned to defend leads even if it’s a 1-0 advantage. Ulinzi for example are very good defensively and they showed that today,” he said.FT: @UlinziStarsFC 1-0 @FCGorMahia https://t.co/btX4scKDJp— Gor Mahia FC (@FCGorMahia) July 26, 2021 Omolo also believes that his team should have made good use of the set-piece opportunities that they created.“When the game is hard or when you are not playing too well, you need to make use of set pieces to get goals. Today we got around ten corners and some free-kicks near Ulinzi goal and we did not make use of them and this shows that to get goals we will have to work really hard,”.“To win games you have to make use of the chances that you create. Today we made some chances, Jules (Ulimwengu) had some good chances which he did not take. Also today we opted for high balls when it was clear Ulinzi were dealing with them easily we should have changed and tried to play low balls to create good chances,” he added.Next for Gor is a match against AFC Leopards.
