Kenyan international Abud Omar’s dream of featuring in the Greek Super League has been crashed after Ionikos released him following their promotion to the top tier.Omar was a vital cog in the Ionikos wheel in their promotion charge as they were crowned champions of the Greek Super League 2, two points ahead of Xanthi.

The former Tusker FC left-back cast doubt about an imminent return to football as he is currently a free agent and could join any club without being bound the transfer window.“Mimi nimewacha ball kwa sasa…until further notice, (I have taken a break from football until further notice),” read his post on Instagram.Omar was involved in an interactive question and answer session with his fans as he confirmed to one of the fans that he no longer plays for the Greek club.

The 28-year-old joined the side back in September 2018 after staying for more than a year without a club since parting ways with Romanian club Sepsi.Omar enjoyed a successful stint with Ionikos scoring two goals last season and chipped in with an assist as they returned to the top flight after a 14 years absence.The former Bandari forward is currently in the country as he awaits his next move.
