Great piece of business! PSV profit $35 million from the sale of former Arsenal youngster

PSV Eindhoven’s Netherlands attacker Donyell Malen has joined Borussia Dortmund until 2026 as Jadon Sancho’s replacement. The 22-year-old has signed a five-year deal with Dortmund after spending four seasons with PSV. Malen also spent two years in Arsenal’s youth system before moving to PSV in the summer of 2017.The forward was part of the Netherlands side that was knocked out in the round of 16 at Euro 2020, making four appearances and registering two assists. According to Kicker magazine, Dortmund have paid $35.5 million for the 22-year-old who made two assists in four matches for his country during Euro 2020.”Borussia Dortmund are a top European club that are always fighting at the top of the Bundesliga and have high expectations in the Champions League. I can’t wait to be on the pitch with my new teammates to be able to compete with the best. And of course, I’m looking forward to the fans and the stadium that everyone in Europe raves about.”DONE DEAL: Donyell Malen ➡️ @BlackYellow pic.twitter.com/HiPRP1dW85— 433 (@433) July 27, 2021 It’s going to be a bis step for former Arsenal and Ajax youngster. Filling Sancho’s boots in Dortmund isn’t going to be an easy task, but Malen has already shown that he doesn’t shy away from a challenge. When Donyell went to PSV as an 18-year-old, it took many by surprise. He was a promising player in Arsenal’s youth team, joining Ajax’s academy in 2015. He featured for the club during the pre-season tour of Australia and China and looked to be making big strides forward. However, it seems the lure of more first-team football was difficult to resist. As he told Eindhovens Dagblad in 2017, he was eager to test himself against senior players rather than spend another couple of years playing for the Arsenal U23 team.”It was going well in England, but I still wanted to leave Arsenal because I had the opportunity to sign for PSV. I took that chance.”Red Devils finally have their man – after two years of trying Manchester United seal the dealArsenal sold Malen for just $660,000 and must be pretty annoyed to see the player move for $35 million more just four years later.Earlier this month, England forward Sancho left the Westfalenstadion for Manchester United for a reported $100 million to make him the second-most expensive English player of all time behind new United teammate Harry Maguire. Sancho scored 50 goals and recorded 57 assists in 137 appearances for Bundesliga club Dortmund. Can the Dutchman emulate the young English attacker?
